Helmet Safety & Testing
The KDMax helmet is certified to ASTM 1492, the current recommended standard for the sport of pole vaulting.

ASTM and the KDMax development team are in the process of developing a standard specific to pole vaulting to ensure the most protection possible for vaulters.

During the development of the helmet, each prototype configuration was dropped from 2 meters onto different shaped anvils at different temperatures and the deceleration of the helmet was measured. The ASTM standard states that none of the drops can read higher then 300Gs. There are also portions of ASTM 1492 to make sure the helmet is stable on the head and can not slip off the head with the retention in place and the retention is pulled on to assure that is does not stretch and is attached to the shell securely.

The KDMax passes all of these tests easily and never approaches the allowable limits. The final configuration has been built with such high quality materials that even after several repeated 2 meter drops onto the same spot on the shell the KDMax is still well below the 300 G limit. A sampling from each batch of helmets made is tested to determine that they are being constructed to the highest standard.
